This Early American, circa 1749, stone crafted, treasure restored to perfection by caring and talented owners, is set between the Erie Path Nature Trail and the Sparkill Creek where canoeing is available. This pre-Revolutionary War era house is an integrated part of the area's history. It is said to have been built by freed slaves, that it may have served as a hideout by Aaron Burr after he killed Alexander Hamilton in a duel, that it was home to artist Carlotta Petrina in the 1960's and to John Crawford, one of Jim Henson’s former puppet makers.

One of the current owners, a history buff and avid preservationist, spent two years restoring the property, using 18th and 19th-century hand tools to rebuild 250 year old fireplaces, exposing ceiling beams and installing antique radiators. He restored the Dutch sandstone facade using old mortaring techniques-mixing lime, sand and horsehair-he painted the house inside and out with historic colors.

The historic two story stone dwelling features a front entry porch and a second level covered porch, both of which afford views of the Sparkill Creek.

The first floor entry leads to a beam ceiling living room with a Pre-Revolutionary fireplace, a charming eat-in kitchen with new stainless appliances and a powder room. A side door leads to the stone wall terraced garden.

Moving through the living room there is a step down entrance to a study with a door leading to a graveled, 4 space parking area.

A hand crafted stairway leads to the second level with a vaulted ceiling Master Bedroom with a 1700's fireplace, stained glass windows, a door leading to the outdoor covered porch and a skylit, artists loft suitable for reading, writing, meditation and yoga. There is a second bedroom which also overlooks the Sparkill Creek.
